Halal Certification Application Procedure

  1. Inquiries & Requisition: Establishments inquire about THIDA’s Halal Certification Procedure and request Halal Certification Application Package from THIDA Approved Mosques (THIDA-AM). Applicants then submit to THIDA-AM the application form with all required documents attached.
  2. Document Verification: All the submitted documents will be verified preliminarily and reviewed in details by THICA-AM according to THIDA's Halal Certification Schemes. Report and audit instructions be prepared.
  3. Premise Auditing: Premis Auditing will be done by THIDA approved auditors from THIDA and THIDA-AM jointly after all the required documents have been processed and verified to be correct and valid. Audit Report will be prepared.
  4. Case Meeting: Based on the documents and audit results, a Case Report will be prepared and a Case Meeting be held by Shariah/Technical Committee members, document inspectors, and auditors to review the case and make a decision.  If the application case is passed, arrangement will be made for issuance of the certificate.
  5. Certificate & Agreement: The Halal Certificate will only be issued after an agreement is signed up between THIDA and the applicant. Then both the certificate and agreement will be notarized at a notary public office which is legally authorized by the Taipei District Court.
  6. Post-Certificate Supervision: During the period of the agreement, unannounced periodic audits on the establishment’s premises will be conducted by THIDA-AM's auditors to ensure compliance and HALAL integrity. Within six months of Halal Certificate issuance, the certificate holder will be required to have a Halal Integrity Team established internally with team members successfully trained by THIDA.
  7. Renewal of Certificates: A reminder letter may be sent to the certificate holders 2 months before the expiration date of the certificate. Applicants willing to renew should submit the application for renewal at least 2 months before expiry.
